Five Reasons to Do a Bridal Registry

At recent bridal shows, we have been surprised to learn that quite a few brides do not know what a bridal registry is or why it is important for a bride-to-be to complete one. If you fall in that category, here is what you need to know as you consider whether you should complete a registry.

  1. Bridal registries give new couples a wonderful way to choose many of the essentials they will need to set up their new home together. If you don't think about what you need or what you would like, you will most certainly receive gifts that you don't like and can't use. Even worse, you will feel obliged to use and display them when your family and friends come over!

  1. Ponte Vecchio 1A bridal registry alleviates much of the financial burden of setting up your household. Most couples have no idea how much it costs to acquire all of the essentials they need. The costs for dishware, linens and all of the basics really add up quickly, and for most couples, this means there is no room in the budget for any of the decorative touches they would like to add to their home. Registering enables family and friends to help you with those costs and ensures you will receive many of the items you need for your new life together.

3. A bridal registry eliminates the guesswork for your wedding guests.

Your family and friends appreciate direction from you on what you need, what you would like, and where they can purchase those things for you. They can call or visit the retailer that holds your registry and find out what items have been purchased for you and what items still remain on your list. This is a great benefit and ensures you will not receive unwanted duplicates.

  1. A bridal registry makes it easier for your family and friends to complete their purchases for you-this is especially important for well wishers who live outside the local area. In many cases, your family and friends can make their purchases for you and arrange gift wrapping and shipping over the phone. This saves time, eliminates stress and ensures there are no worries about finding that special gift, particularly when stores don't always carry the same merchandise from store to store or state to state.  5. Modern registries enable brides to select furniture and decor items so they can begin decorating their new home. Many brides are marrying later in life and they may already have most of the basics they need. When that is the case, we find at Ponte Vecchio Living that couples use their registry to focus on what they would like rather than just what they need. Many add decorative touches like wall art, lamps, rugs, decorative boxes, candleholders and other accessories to their registries. Since combining households often means brides and grooms start out with furniture and decor they would rather replace than keep, modern couples are even specifying new furniture so they can begin collecting pieces the bride and groom both like. Friends and family are happy to contribute toward these important purchases. Registering for a few hours of professional interior design services can also be a good idea to help the bride and groom find a cohesive look for their new home."

Completing a bridal registry is not only a practical thing for you to do--it is one of the most exciting and fun aspects of your wedding planning. Make sure you choose a retailer that offers a broad range of useful and decorative items for all of your lifestyle needs. Also, make sure that retailer provides gift cards and ancillary services such as registry tracking, over-the-phone purchasing, gift wrapping, and shipping services to make things easy for you and for your out-of-town friends and family.
